A-Plus® Super Clear Gloss Urethane Wood Varnish is a single-component protective clear coat system for interior and exterior wooden substrates. It is an enhanced version of the traditional “spar varnish,” that finishes to a protective highly durable clear coat that exhibits excellent adhesion and resists water-whitening. It is an ideal choice for wooden surfaces such as furniture, woodcraft, and many more.

Specifications

Principal Uses: Interior/Exterior wooden surfaces and furniture (not intended for foot traffic)

Sheen: Gloss

Coverage: 20-25 square meter per gallon / coat

Surface Preparation & Precautions

Ensure wooden substrate is fully kiln dried/treated. Surface to be painted should be clean and dry, free from dust, dirt, and other foreign matter.
To remove any wood discoloration, apply A-Plus® Wood Bleach #1 & #2. If previously coated, remove old and loose paint by stripping off with A-Plus Supertanggal® Paint Remover.
Sand surface smooth using #180 grit sandpaper or use a planetary grinder.
Correct surface imperfections by using A-Plus® Fast-Drying Plastic Wood Filler.
Surface to be applied on must be thoroughly cleaned, free of any contaminants that can affect adhesion such as wax, oil, grease, moisture, and loose particles.
Avoid painting under extreme environmental conditions and/or bad weather conditions.

Painting Procedure

New Wood Surfaces:

Stain (Optional): Apply A-Plus® Penetrating Wood Stain using either brush or spray.
Putty: A-Plus® Enamel Glazing Putty or A-Plus® Fast-Drying Plastic Wood Filler. Sanded lightly before topcoat application.
Topcoat: Apply at least 1-2 coats of A-Plus® Super Clear Gloss Urethane Wood Varnish.
If necessary, thin with A-Plus® Super Clear Gloss Urethane Reducer at 30% by total volume when spraying to improve film build.
